  • Maybe because helium is less dense than the air, so it always want to float up because the buoyancy force of the air is pushing it upwards. Hence the sound or the vibrated molecules from mouth will always move upwards and sometimes knocking with your vocal cords or the pinch or frequency is disturbed because it is moving upwards really fast which cause your voice deeper or higher.

  • Actually vocal cords don't punch the air, they are containing preasure and letting it go with diferent frequency wich is dependent on the vocal cords tightness. They work the same as making sound with a baloon. :)

    • His entire explanation is unfortunately wrong. Helium and sulfur hexafluoride change the sound of your voice because they change the speed of sound in your throat, changing which frequencies of sound resonate and thus get amplified.

  • When you dropped the balloons and said, "See how much faster that falls" it was a lightbulb moment for me. We have seen the experiments when we drop a hammer and a feather in a vacuum and they accelerate at the same rate so for a moment I was confused. But then I remembered how you said air is a fluid and that is when the lightbulb when off. The heavier balloon SUNK faster! That is exactly like objects of different buoyancies sinking at different rates in water. Thanks for some great learning!

So I can tell you from experience, it gets easier with time. I just decided to channel my passion and not really think of it as a job, but just me sharing my passion and knowledge with others.
